Horizon

The Daycare center is opening its third year of operation in November of this year. The Horizons program is under the auspices of the Muslim Academy of Central Florida and was created in response to a demand for Islamic based child care for infants and preschool age children.

Horizons is licensed by the Department of Children and families (DCF) and provides childcare services for children from two weeks to five years of age. When Horizons opened its doors in 2000, there were less than 20 children and a staff of five teachers.

Horizons is currently close to doubling the number of children initially enrolled from two years ago and now has a staff of seven teachers. Horizons continues to maintain a commitment in providing quality care and learning experiences in a loving, Islamic environment. The teacher/student ratio has remained much lower than what DCF requires so that we may provide the children enrolled at the center greater opportunities for one-on-one contact with their teachers.

All of our teachers are required to complete 40 hours of state mandated childcare training. However, many of our teachers complete additional childcare education classes not required by DCF. A further DCF requirement is that we have at least one person on staff that is certified in first aid and CPR. At Horizons, however, safety is a high priority; therefore, we require that all of our teachers receive this training.

Please complete all enrollment forms completely. Due to the high demand for the enrollment of certain age groups, parents are encouraged to register early to reserve a space for their child. Parents who register late may be placed on a waiting list until a space becomes available. Health and immunization forms must be completed and signed by your child’s doctor and must be on file with the center within 30 days of enrollment. There are no exceptions to this requirement. Your child may not be allowed to attend the center if the health immunization forms are not in our files within the 30-day period.

DAYS AND HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

REGISTRATION FEES PER WEEK: An annual registration fee of $40.00 (subject to change) is due at the time of registration. This fee is non-refundable. The second child’s registration fee is $25.00. A maximum registration fee of $70.00 will be charged for families enrolling several children. A 10% discount applies for every additional sibling enrolled full-time.

REST MATS: Each child is required to have a 2” sleeping/rest mat for daily naps. Parents may choose to purchase a mat and send it in with their child or purchase one from Horizons for $15.00.

CHILDCARE FEES PER WEEK: *Part-time fees are assessed if the child is enrolled for 25 hours or less per week otherwise full-time fees would apply.
